Sexual health and behaviour

This project is investigating the impact of sexual health and behaviour on long-term mental health outcomes. One aspect of the project is demonstrating that non-heterosexual orientation is not itself a major risk factor for long-term mental health outcomes, but rather that any association is due to other vulnerabilities such as social interactions, trauma, physical health. A second aspect of the project is examining the long-term impact of sexual health and related behaviours (e.g. use of contraception, age of first sex, abortion) has on long-term mental health risk.
