Dr Moyra Mortby was awarded the Hazel Hawke Grant this month.
The Hazel Hawke Alzheimer's Research and Care Fund was set up to raise the profile of dementia and the importance of investment in research to improve the quality of dementia care. At Hazel’s request, Alzheimer’s Australia established the Hazel Hawke Alzheimer’s Australia Research and Care Fund in 2003 to support dementia care research across Australia. With Hazel’s passing in 2013, Australians have responded generously with donations to build a legacy in memory of Hazel and to fulfil her wishes for continued investment in research and care for dementia.
Since it was established, the fund has supported 14 research projects aimed at improving the lives of people with dementia and their carers.
